A team of bakers led by Turning Stone’s executive pastry chef Dennis Miller spent 1,200 hours to create the 20,000 individual pieces of gingerbread that make up the village, which also includes 4,800 Hershey Kisses, 1,000 pounds of frosting, 200 pounds of short dough, 2,000 sugar disks for the church roof, 28 pounds of colored rock sugar, and 3,000 house-made pastillage wafers.
Turning Stone’s Gingerbread Village, located in their Winter Garden, is now open for the season with eight gingerbread buildings covering nearly 60 feet of space. There are few places in the area as festive around the holidays as Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona and Vernon Downs Casino and Hotel in Vernon.
